There are thousands of British victims being scammed by a shady call centre. The owner of the call centre is Amit Chauhan. While being caught red handed of these scams, he still denied and refused to answer detailed questions.
The Indian police have raided the call centre and BBC follow up with the investigation.
The Scams Plot
The video footage shows clearly how the call centre staff scam their victims. They charge hundreds of pounds to fix computer problems which does not even exist.
There are over 70,000 calls recorded, the victims were located in Australia, UK and America. Indian police are appealing to British victims who had paid money to this call centre to contact to this email Shocybergrg.pol-hry@gov.in
Real Victim
A victim by the name of Perry Adams, who lost his money speak up. “I think that it’s superb the work that Panorama has done on behalf of the victims, to catch someone who thought they are untouchable. There’s nothing to stop him opening up somewhere else, so I’ll be interested to see what happens in court.”
Online Vigilate
The call centre hire hundred of thousand employees to run such scams. It is a difficult task for the Indian police as the victims are located at overseas.
Thanks to an online vigilante Jim Browning, who hacked into the call center’s computer system and gain access to the CCTV camera. The CCTV camera capture clearly the conversation of the scammers and evidence have been obtained.
